Ron grew up in Pasco, Washington.   His parents were saved early in their marriage so this allowed Ron to be reared in a Christian home.   Their church was First Baptist Church of Pasco. When Ron was five years old, his parents hosted a five-day club in their home.   It was there that Ron heard the gospel that convicted his heart of sin and showed him his need for salvation.   Three years later, he was baptized by immersion in his home church.

Ron attended public school through high school.   As time passed, he became more concerned about fitting into the world than about living for Christ.   During his junior year of high school, his church hosted revival meetings.   Prior to the meetings, the Holy Spirit had been working in Ron’s heart about his worldly attitude.   It was at this time that he made a decision to surrender his life to the Lord.   A major change took place in Ron’s life.   Ron believed that this was also his call to the gospel ministry.  He began carrying his Bible to school, shared his faith with his friends, and led devotionals for youth group, nursing home, and rescue mission meetings.   This new desire for God’s Word led him to study at Faith Baptist Bible College in Ankeny, Iowa.   He graduated in 1986 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Pastoral Ministries.

Ron married Joy Lobb after his junior year of college on August 10, 1985. Upon completion of college, they moved to Tacoma, Washington for Ron to attend Northwest Baptist Seminary.   Ron has pastored in three churches:  First Baptist Church of Clarkston, Washington from 1988-1991, Community Baptist Church of Hillsboro, Oregon from 1991-1994, and Faith Baptist Church of Sauk Centre, Minnesota from 1994-2014.  Ron completed a Master of Arts degree in Practical Theology from Faith Baptist Theological Seminary, Ankeny, Iowa in May of 2015.  The Hemsworths have five children:  Ronald III (1989), Aaron (1990), Elizabeth (1994), Jacob (1988), and Stephanie (2000).

Besides pastoring for twenty-six years, Ron has experience in construction and ambulance work.   In June of 2013, Ron and Joy led a volunteer work team from their church to Missionary Acres in Silva, Missouri to help complete some projects.    God used this trip to plant a burden in their hearts for the ministry of Missionary Acres.   The following summer, Ron & Joy attended Baptist Mid-Missions candidate seminar and were approved as missionaries to Missionary Acres, Silva, Missouri.
